The project's objective is to extend the "Smith House," originally designed by architect Richard Meier in 1965. The addition must integrate new systems, patterns, and conceptual analogies to fulfill the owners' requirements while preserving the architectural integrity of Meier's original design.
" ADDITION TO AN EXISTING "
"NARRATIVE"
The Smith family has recently moved into their new home and requested an addition to the existing structure without altering its original design concept. Inspired by the building's seamless integration with its surroundings, they requested an exercise room, family room, and master suite. Emphasizing the family room's connection to nature, a formal outdoor deck links it with the environment, fostering a sense of harmony. The master suite offers a private retreat with a view of the surroundings appreciating nature. Positioned on the bottom level, the exercise room provides direct access to the outdoors, promoting a refreshing atmosphere for physical activity. This addition maintains the home's cohesion with its environment while enhancing functionality and comfort for the Smith family.
